Simone Biles is hands down the best gymnast, she is way ahead of her time in regards to the extremely complex routines she executes. She has won every World Championship since 2013. She has defied the odds, in regards to what she can achieve so much so that the Federation of International Gymnastics has decided to penalize her by lowering her score based on the associated risks of harm rather than her exceptional skillset. In other words, she’s in a league of her own! Not to mention she is able to do this after being molested by her team doctor throughout her entire childhood and teen years.

Many of you know that Simone recently withdrew from the women's artistic gymnastics team final recently. When asked about her decision during a press conference Biles stated "I just felt like it would be a little better to take a back seat and work on my mindfulness...I didn't want to risk the team a medal because of my screwups." Biles went on to inform reporters that she's focusing on her well-being and there's more to life than gymnastics. "I feel like I'm also not having as much fun-and this Olympic Games I wanted it to be for myself and it felt like I was still doing for other people---and that hurts my heart that doing what I love has been taken away from me." While aren't sure of her plans for the rest of the competition. I commend her for taking it one day at a time. I commend her selflessness. Biles is hopeful that America will still love her. My response to that is America better still love you but if they don't it does not MATTER!!!!

“I feel like at times , people forget that even the very best in the world are still human-with hearts, nerves, pain, stress, anxiety, and pressure. So let’s continue to spread our love and support to our athletes who are doing something so difficult already, and then having to also handle the weight of an entire nation and world on their shoulders during a pandemic without fans, and their number one supporters, their family.
— Nastia Liukin, Former Olympian and current NBC Olympic sports analyst

Dear Simone!

I support you.

I stand with you.

I salute you.

I respect your decision.

The world may want you to WIN AT ALL COSTS!

You owe us nothing but you owe yourself everything.

Protect your mental health at all costs!

There will be more Olympics, yet there is only one YOU.

No one has walked a mile in your shoes.

Yes, you are the top gymnast.

But more importantly you are a human being.

Your well-being is of the utmost importance not a gold medal.

You don't have to dim your light or lessen yourself to make anyone else comfortable.

Continue to seize your power and command the room.

I commend your venerability.

You know your capabilities.

You're well trained.

You've taken insurmountable risks!

It's okay to have highs and lows.

Your journey has just begun.

I'm rooting for you on and off of the beam!!!

What you've overcome is remarkable.

What you've done for other girls is commendable.

I cannot begin to imagine the immense pressure and intense scrutiny you've endured emotionally nor physically.

I will not destroy or tear you down.

Instead I will build you up.

You are beautiful.

You are powerful.

You are a true champion.

You are a selfless woman.

You are a role model.

You are an outstanding athlete.

Competing is not everything.

Winning is not everything.

You have exuded exponential grace under pressure.

Never underestimate your power.

Never underestimate your strength.

I admire your courage and wisdom to step back in spite of how it may look to others.

It's not about them.

To make yourself disposable for our entertainment is preposterous.

My advise to other girls, (women) athletes or not is to:

  • Exude grace.

  • Give yourself grace.

  • Extend grace to others.

  • Always do what's best for you mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually!!!!!
