I AM EXPECTING!

When we hear the word “expecting”, we often correlate it with a pregnant woman with a baby bump. However, a pregnant woman is expecting well before we are able to visualize the bump. At all times, we should all be expecting because that is the type of faith we should be demonstrating! The level of faith a pregnant woman has is what we should model. She is expecting to hear her baby’s heartbeat, first U/S, feeling her baby kick, changes to her body weekly both inside and out, and to progress from first, second and third trimester. She is expecting with a deadline. She is expecting to go into labor naturally or with medical intervention. She is expecting to give birth to a healthy bouncing baby with ten fingers and ten toes.

What is your spirit of expectation? Are you expecting something or nothing at all? Are you expecting every gift that God placed inside of you and promise that God made to you to fully manifest? When you know something is in you, you walk, talk, and behave differently. When you perceive greatness, you perform at that level. A spirit of expectation provides excitement.

If you expect something in your head, it’ll take place in your body. In other words, whatever you think is what you are. Example: I think therefore I am___________. Some of the adjectives I’d use to fill in the blank are successful, brilliant, beautiful, loving, lender, leader, worthy, enough, great, capable, CEO, strong, victorious, healthy, and COVID-19 free. Fill in the blank according to your level of expectation.

What do you expect to happen? Do you expect God to answer your prayers, not only for yourself but for others? Look to God with the expectation and belief that you will receive something in return in the same way that you expect your lights, TV, water, and car to turn on, and your phone to make calls, send text, access social media, etc. when you’ve paid the bills on time. Your expectations shouldn’t be low, but high. Be mindful of this scripture, Ephesians 3:20 NKJV, Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.

The labor and delivery process is not what you see on “A Baby Story” on television. In other words, it’s painful and far from pretty. Yet, many women choose to go through the process more than once and some without pain medication because they expect to give birth to a beautiful baby, a baby that will forever change their lives the moment they make their debut into the world. Not seeing it with my natural eye hasn’t stopped me from having a spirit of expectation, hope, faith, and belief, and it shouldn’t stop you either. When in expectation, you can give birth to greatness and possibilities. Even in the midst of difficulties, you must remain focused, keep aiming, believing, and most importantly expecting.
